One of the members reported that the owner, Geo. G. Berry, had the deed ready for the company and the trus tees were instructed to make the nec essary negotiations. The price of the lot is ?C0. The neat bunine. befote the meet ing was a social dance to be given for the purpose of raising funds. A com mittee, consisting of Win, Baron, V. Walsh, Win. Constable. Xat Hawke, Chas. Piatt and Fred Hcrrcra, fore man, was appointed and given full power to make all arrangements and fix the date of the dance. The com mittee will meet at Baron's barber shop this evening at 8 o'clock to per fect the arrangement. Foot Bowik, Aug. 21, 1889. Emtob EriTAi'U : What is the mat ter with our friends who are opposed to bringing in Arizona as a State, or to the holding of a convention tor the purpose of framing a constitution and asking for admission into tho galaxy of States? I do not like to accuse anyone of a desire to put oft" a sworn public duty, but from the movements of "elaquers" it would look as though dust was being kicked up for some thing. The Citizen of the 19th in stant produces a letter from Iteavis, of doubtful authenticity, probably writ ten in the Citizen office, or rather, to put on the aristocratic touch, "dic tated" but of little import at best, only for the reason that Iteavis is deemed unpopular. An opinion (un asked) is alfo given of the Attorney General of the United States, who, if he gave it, put in his oar where it has no business. If an act of our legisla ture is not disapproved by the Federal Congress it is a law and must govern our executhe in his official acts, in spite of the opinion of tho Attorney General of tho United States or inter ested federal judges to the contrary. I repeat, what is the matter? Are tho-c in petty portions now afraid of losing their standing should the peo ple get a chance to vote for their own official servants? It sounds strange to hear people crying about "expense" who never hesitated to take all they could get when it w.is for them, and to take what they knew to be illegal, anil therefore robbery, talk about toj heavy taxation. Why, if it went into their pockets the old church tithe, or one tenth of the grow receipts, would 1 light. Do your duty all, and not attemrt to hiilc in smoke, or, if you hav' not the sand resign, to those that 1 avc, is my advice to all officials. Yours truly, S. K. DeLoxo.
