steamer Badger, supposed to have
been hopelessly wrecked on Jones
Island, steamed into harbor to-day.
At the underwriter's sale recently the
wreck was bought by fier owner for
$150. He proceeded for Jones Island,
filled up the hole in the hull with
cement and then floated the vessel,
got up steam and camo to Victoria

New York Central railroad track in
this city to-night in stepping out of
the way of an approaching train
walked in front of the fast mail train
coming out of the city and all were
struck and instantly killed. Their
bodies were so terribly mangled that
they were scarcely recognizable.
