The members of St. Mary's (Epis copal), guild, gave a farewell party to Mrs. John Carter, at tho home of Mr. and Mrs. John T. Noble on James street. Wednesday evening. Mrs, Carter was presented wrth ' a nice parasol and the 'girls', society of the mission gave Miss Ethel Carter, a daughter, a fine brooch as a token of the esteem in which they held her. Light refreshments were served and a pleasant evening enjoyed. The Carters will soon move to Grand Rap ids to I've. Auto Crashed Into Building. An auto owned by a Mr. Kelly of Greenville, bearing license plato No. 7725, driven by a daughter of the own er, crashed over the curb on West Main street and continuing on its way, crashed into the little shoe shop occupied by N. J. Lloyd, very nearly demolishing it Mr. Kelly, owner of the car regretted the accident very much and made all possible restitu tion necessary. While several little children were returning from school Friday noon they noticed a hanging nire in front of the houso of Eli Mat t'son which had been blown down by tl.e wind during ihe storm Thursday nihgt. Mrs. MattisonV had reported the wire to the Union Telephone com pany not realizing that it was a live electric wire. . One of the children little Edward Ernst, upon thinking that he would get the wire out of the way, took hold of it and received' a severe shock. When Mrs. Mattison saw the child lying on the ground, immediately rushed to him and tried to lift him up, but received a slight shock her self. It was necessary to turn the current off before the child could be removed, as the wire van clinched in hi hand and coiltd about his limbs. Doctors were called immediately and it. was several .hours before the child regained consciousness. He was moved to the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Ernst, on S. Ctt taws street, as soon as possihje and Is much improved, although his hand is severely burned. That in and by virtue of the terms of said mortgage it was agreed that said mortgagor should pay and dis charge all taxes levied and assessed against the property therein describ ed and should also pay the interest annually at the rate of 6 per cent per annum, and that in the event he fail ed to pay the interest or taxes or insurance upon the buildings, then after the expiration of thirty days the said mortgagee might elect to treat and declare the entire amount secured by said mortgage due and payable fbrthwith. That the said mortgagor having failed and refused to pay and dis charge the taxes, interest and insur ance upon said buildings, and thirty days having elapsed sin.e such refu sal, the said mortgagee hath elected to treat, consider and declare the en tire amount secured by said mort gage due and payable forthwith. That there is now calimed to be due and 'payable on said mortgage the just and full sum of seven hun dred and fifty doUlrs ($750) prin cipal and interest sixty-nine and 97 100 dollars ($69.97), and that the total amount claimed to be due and payable is eight hundred nineteen and 97-100 dollars ($819.97).
