Proposed New Real Estate Or
ganization Has Merit.
The proposed organization of the
reil estate men of the state and par
ticularly those of western Michigan,
will be perfected at tho Land and
Apple show which will bn held in
Grand Rapids on November 15,
promises much for this section of the
htate, once It is put into practical
operation. Tha Information of this
organisation will enable the reliable
dealer of the state to combat the,,
wildcat concerns which make a spe
cialty of unloading Inferior lands
upon unsuspecting buyers and there
by creating distrust among the people
of the motives Qf real estate men In
f eneral. The great majority of the
dealers )q the state are honest and
are doing their best to satisfy thelrJ
customers and make permanent citi
zens of them. In order to do this fair
dealing and truthful advertising is
necessary and in order to Insure this
policy it is thought best to form an
organization which will wo: k in liar,
monyatall times and with a com
mon purpose In view, to build up the
state from tha best class of people
The meeting will be presided over
by Heber A. Ktiott, and the first ses
sion will be held in the Coliseum Fri
day forenoon, November 1", followed
by a session in the afternoon on the
name day. It is intended to ak the
next legislature to pas three bills lor
the welfare of the stale at large.
The Urst will be a measure to license
real estate dealers, charging them a
tuilJeient fee to malie the organization
elective, and any one who is guilty
ot misrepresenting a deal to a custom
er can be put out of business by hav
ing his license revoked upon the pre
sentation of the proper projfs. TI.e
second measure to ie asked for is u
blue sky law with reference to real
estate, This would prevent wildcat,
liruis from Killing I a mi 4ocated at the
bottom of a lake or in awamps. or oth
er place that could never be reclaimed.
Third, the organization will ask thai
the state appoint au agricutural com
mission whose duty it will be to
make an examination of the pine bar
rens of the state and ascertain wheth
er or not they can ever be developed
Into valuable farming or fruit lands.
The formation of this organization
and the passage of these measures
will go a great way towaad fosteriug
the development of the northern part
of the state and especially the terri
tory comprised lu the twenty coun
ties now In the bureau. The time Is
ripe for such a campaign and the
sooner it is put into actual operation
the better it will be for riot ooly
western Michigan but for the entire
state. It will give an official sanc tion
to the work and wtll insure fair treat
ment to the prospective settler, who
is asurfd that nothtnir will be mis
represented to hlna when lie comes
here to purchase a home and become
a citizen. The real estate men arc
