Jimmie Aten, while drawing wood one day last week, was thrown from the wagon and hurt his arm quite badly, but no bones were broken. l nere is talk or starting a singing school at this place about the middle of the month. Will Aten commenced teaching school in the Clark district a week ago Tuesday. As this is his first term we wish him success. Posts of Perry and Bancroft gave a camp fire here last evening. A bountiful supper was served at six o'clock, followed by the evening's entertainment which con sisted of music by the orchestra and patriotic songs, together with speech es and reminiscences of war by Rev John Hamilton, Dr. Fox and others. A surprise party was given Miss Agnes Mortice last Friday evening Between twenty five and thirty of the young people were present and report a jolly time. Wm. The foundation for the addition on the flouring mill, is being laid, and will commence tht frame work as soon as possible, the new part is to be used for an elevator and store room and is to be three stories high 16x36 feet on the ground. There was a case of scarlet fever reported in this town lat week to the State Board of health, but I would say that there has been no repcrt made to our township board uf health neither is there nor has there been any scarlet fever in this town for a long time, our officer is a wide awake man and knows his business and the statement made that scarlet fever was in this township is entirely false and untrue. It would be well if some people would only attend to their own business and let others do the same. Stolen -from this township a fine young lady, Miss Addie Gould, taken for better or for worse bv Eueene Burkhart of Perry. The happy couple were married at Perry bv Rev. Ken edy an i then started on their tour and will rrturn'in a few days. We regret the loss of Mrs. Burkhart from our midst but what is Wooclhull's loss is Perry's gain. Bertha Shalt is on the sick list and at this writing is no better. We hope that .she will get well soon. She was missed from her post ns organist in our Sabbath School and also from her class. The young people are making great preparations for the Christinas tree at this place to bs held on Christmas eve. Later Bertha Shaft, spoken of above as being very sick, died this (Wednesday) morning at six o'clock, at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. Henry Shaft. Bertha was a good girl, well liked by all who knew her and will be much missed by , her schoolmates and of her family ot which she was a constant helper. Dot. Teacher's Atztclatlca. On account of the rain few were in atten dance in the forenoon In the after noon a paper on spelling was read by Miss Etta Moseley, of the Corunna schools. This was followed by a lively discussion. Prof. Bates of Owosso schools then took up the sub ject, "The Air We Breathe;" This was accompanied by some very inter esting experiments with Oxygen, Hy drogen and Carbonic Oxide. This was followed by an unexpected treat in the form of a lecture by Prof. Cut ter late in the service of ihe Japanese Government on the Japanese and their education.
