The long and tedious t-uit brought by Dr. Stephens against Mr. and Mrs. Parm- ely lor the possession ol his child is end eu. the doctor getting his son. The most important feature was the plea for Dr. Stephens made by Attorney Miner, lie explained how the respondents had scour ed the country, how they had followed Dr. Stephens in his travels, east, west, north and south : how they had followed him from his cradle to the present time for some evidence against him, and had failed. He showed that Dr. Stevens had built up his dental practice by hard in dustrious work, and that if he had been a man of bad habits and immoral charac ter he would not have worked for the best people of Owosso and gained a practice of lour thousand collars jut year, ana one which is not surpassed by any in this part of the state. He scored the idle gossip- ers and showed how they, by their foul mouths, could injure the most innocent, and how they in this case had done Dr. Stephens a vast injury. This last point was confirmed by Judge I'erson, who in his fine talk said in regard to the sup pi cions that had been cast around Dr. Ste phens in connection with tho death of his former wife, was wrong; that nothing had been shown agninst Dr. Stephens that would give rise to a suspicion, and related a sad incident of his own friend, identically the same except one occurred in the night and the other in the day. Dr. Stephens not only got possession of his son, but was able to obtain an apology of Mrs. Tamely for the insinuations which she had made,' bringing about a friendly feeling between them and rehev' ing the doctor of an unnatural .and enor mous burden. The child is allowed to visit its grandparents at all reasonable times, and Dr. Stephens is once more hap py at home and in his office. It $100 Howard, $100.
