Fixe Art. Few of our people, we imagine are
aware to what extent many of the die arts are car
ried on in our midst; there if however, abundant
room for tbe introduction of more of tbem. Those
which have found proper encouragement ate get-
tiog oo finely, whilst other have languished for the
; want of requisite support. They aboulj be foster
ed, foe thev is no reason why Nashville, may not
build tip berown enterprises in this particular, ratb-
'. er than be dependent upon other places. Wa are
gratified to perceive that interior decorations of
building, dwellings especially, are becoming so gen
eral with the new buil lines in progress in tbe city.
Wa might mention numerous instances in which our
c'.t sens are displaying good taste, in prop-r'y orna
menting the exterior of their new buildings. A day
or two t-ince, wbil-i pasaing the establishment of
our wl -known citizen, Capt. Siockell, we stepped
' iu and examined many of tbe beautiful designs and
' ornaments which he haa on baud, that have been
ordered fur Tarious atructurea in progresa of coi -traction.
They are indeed very fine beautiful in
deaign, and exquisite In finish. We do not recol
lect seeing anything more perfect in any of our lai
ger cities. This style of wok is alike creditable to
tbe energy, skill and taste of Capt. S., and to the
. . city.

If we understand the subject, he has carried that article
to the farthest perfection of which it is capably. Instead of
employing Drngs in its composition, as we have always
thought the necessary and only way, he has with consam

The composition is then mixed and rolled by machinery and
