pleted a motion was mado to ro
consider tho nomination for city
clerk; which carried. Mrs-Hamilton
who had boon nominated,
was by voto withdrawn, as thero
woro too many republicans on
tho ticket. Nominations were
declared in ordor by tho char
man. B. E. Boobe and J
Stolzner woro placed in nomina
tion for city clork; at this juno
turo a motion was mado not to
nominate a candidato for city
clork until . the noxt mooting.
Motion carried. Tho meeting
then adjourned for ono week.
Tho ticket is composed of good
men. who if elected would
w bolievo, try and do thoir duty.
Thoir candidato for mayor is a
membor of thopresont city coun
cil, a prominent business man,
and no ono will question his hon
esty of purpose. Although ho
doos not possess tho natural
qualifications for bringing Ana
darko and her interests to tho
front and making her tho quoon
city of Oklahoma, as Wm. H.
Divers, tho Democratic nominee
has, yet ho is a good man. The
ticket compares very favorably
with tho Democratic ticket, and
shows that tho gentlemen who
nominated it aro thoroughly in
sympathy with tho Democrat's
position for good govornmont.

Over Corporation.
A bill of momentous importance
to this city was introduced in the
lowor House of the territorial as
sembly yesterday by Edgnr Jones,
of Logan, at the request of Dr.
John Threndgill, and will bo in
troduced in the Senate by Mr.
Chmnbell of Oklahoma City. It is
a bill for the incorporation of
oitiesof 10,000 inhabitants and
over, and provides an especial
oharter for Guthrie and Okla
homa City. Tho bill providoB
thatoity officials now in office
will hold over until after the
first annual election, which iB
hold tho first Tuesday after tho
first Monday in May, 1908.
Provision is mado that all oitios
of from 10,000 to 30,000 inhab
itants will bo divided by the pres
ent Council into seven wards and
that at tho election to bo hold in
May thoro will bo oloctod a may
or, city council, board of educa
tion, city assessor city troasuror,
city comptroller, and city clork.
By tho provisions or tho bill it is
tho .mayors prerogative to ap
point tho polico judge, city at
torney, chief of polico, superin
tendent of street and corporation
council. Tho financial schomo
gives tho city tho power to mako
its own taxes, but it is limited to
2 per cont for general purposes.

All taxes will bo collected by
tho city troasuror instead of tho
county treasurer and tho city
