Seattle-King County Poultry Show.
All sorts and sizes of aristocratic
obioktni were gathered together De
cember 9th when the fifth annual show
of tho Seattle-King County Poultry
Association was opened in the Corner
Market building at Pike street and
First avenue. For quality and quan
tity of exhibits the exposition was
the best ever made in the city, and
earned high praise from George D.
Holden of Owatona, Minn., one of
the judges. Mr. Holden who is a
national authority, declares that,
taken as a whole, the quality of the
birds was superior to that at any of
the California expositions.
White birds appear to be gaining in
popularity with Pacific Coast poultry-

horns, White Plymouth Rocks and
White Wyandottes was large. Barred
Plymouth Rocks, Black Spanish and
other varieties, however, were well
represented.
CHAMPION TURKEY SHOWN.
In addition to the utility breeds, a
tine showing was made of bantams.
Some ducks also were shown, and the
turkey department carried some
splendid specimens from the Bellevue
poultry farm at Roche Harbor, in
cluding the splendid specimen of
American Mammoth Bronze turkey,
which weighs sixty-five pounds and
holds the championship of America.
This bird, in addition to his great
size, is perfectly marked, the shades
of bronze on his feathers beiug par
ticularly beautiful. This bird is three
years old, and one or two of bis pro
geny, which were also on exhibition,
at two years old, bid fair to acquire
even greater size and beauty than the
father bird.

The most noticeable success of the
day was that of H. R. Hoyt, of Water
man, who cleaned up practically all
tne first prizes in the White Wyan
