AT this time of the year the berry fields of Western Washington are returning to
their owners bountiful crops which are bringing them a good profit. More than
20 car loads a day are being shipped Last from the Puyallup and White River valleys.
This particular gooseberry field belongs to Stetson Brothers of Bellevue, on the east
side of Lake Washington, Seattle. It contains 1600 plants to the acre and last year
produced more than two tons of fruit to the acre.
