"^R The Colorado Delta, located in Riverside and San Diejjo counties in Southern California and extending **

•^ The Imi>erial Setttlement is located t n this delta, and comprises about five hundred thousand
~£ acres of level, fertile land, free from alkali, with sufficient slope to be easily irrigated. It is all Government land and

\£ This country is suited to the production of alfalfa and the fattening of cattle, (a line of business that can uj:
vfc never be overdone) and toother agricultural and horticultural productions usual to Southern California.
2^ * The climate is the finest in the world for eight months in the year, and the summers are not one-half as

vL The Colorado River furnishes the most abundant supply of water for'irrig:ation purj>oses to be found west
\|> of the Rocky Mountains. Its greatest flood is during the month of June, when it is needed the most, 31
\fc and the least supply during December, when it is needed the least— being about nine feet higher in June ujl
\fc than in December.
The river carries enough water to irrigate S,OOO,O<H) acres of land, hence the supply can never be cut short
vfr- by dry seasons.
t^ An extensive irrigation system is now being constructed to reclaim this large tract of country. The main • 2>
vji canal will be enlarged and the branch canals extended to meet the demand for water as the irrigated area is vi
vi< enlarged. w!
wi Water is now flowing in the main canal, and will be ready for use for fall and winter crops. u[
v^ The waters of this river carry more fertilizers than is carried by the waters of any other river in world, not uJ
tji excepting even the Nile. ?£
v£ The soil of this Delta is as fertile as soil can be, and when cultivated and irrigated with this water *£
v£ it must continue to remain fertile, as each season's irrigation will deposit on each acre irrigated more than $10 worth tjt
v£ of commercial fertilizers without extra expense.
vjT The land will be irrigated by mutual water companies, designated as Imperial Water Company No. 1, No. 2>
2, No. 3, etc., formed to distribute water to stockholders only, at cost. ~£
w The Imperial Land Company sells this water stock to the landowners— one share to each acre. The price
J^m is now only $11.25 per share.
KjV A railroad through the Imperial Settlement, connecting with Yum aon the east and San Diego on the C^§
