Mclntyre, of Roseburg, was in Y'ale the fore part of the week on his way to Port Huron where he expected to have his eyes treated. Superintendent Parker, of the Ma. rine City schools and Principal Hart man, of Marlette, attended the teach ers' meeting on Saturday. Alfred Williams and wife, of Water town, visited their son Walter on Wed nesday. Mrs. Williams went to Cana da that day to visit relatives. Bert Kelley returned home last week from a short visit in Detroit. D. W. Livinccood accompanied him here and spent a few days visiting. Frank Putney was in Bay City Thurs day consulting Dr. Stone. Frank has not been feeling well of late and the Dr. advised him to take a rest. N. T. Stratton left this mornine for Saginaw, Toledo, North Baltimore, Bowling Green, and other points in Ohio and Michigan to visit among friends. Nellie Magner visited the grammar room Monday. Through the kindness of Mr. Menzies we have several copies of the Scientific American. Mars which was first observed in the constellation Gemini, is now nearing Regulus of the constellation Leo. During the session of Circuit court which is being held by the ninth grade the only member of the class who was not a citizen took out her citizen papers. Mr. Hartman, of Marlette and Mr. Parker, of Marine City attended the Teachers' Association "last Saturday. Mr. Hartman delivered a scholarly lecture of twenty minutes. Mr. Park er by his lively and instructive speech es added. much to the pleasure of the listeners. Mr. Roode took the Philosophy class to the depot and explained the work ing of the Electric Telegraph. Much good was derived. Karl Mitchell was champion of the spelling contest last week. A great many new animals nave been added to the menagerie including three cub lions and a baby rhinoceros, the only one in American, a family of Japanese spinning mice, the quaintest little ro dents that spin like tops almost con stantly and many other novelties of the animal kingdom. The haunted swing, in which one has the peculiar sensation of swinging entirely, being headdownward at times, is free to all patrons both after noon and evening. A line photograph parlor with 20 instruments, where one can enjoy all the latest songs sung by famous singers, playing of bands, reci tations and jokes by well known artists etc., is also free to patrons. The eden museehas been greatly enj larged and many new groups added, including a group of the most famous fighters of the Spanish war. An hour or two spent in the curio halls of Wonderland where quaint peoples, interesting curiosities of all kinds and unique and wonderful performances are given can be spent very enjoyably and profitably.
