The ancients believed that rheuma tism was the work of a demon within a man. Any one who has had an at tact of sciatic or inflammatory rheuma tism will agree that the allliction is de raoniac enough to warrant the belief It has never been claimed that Cham berlain's Pain Balm would cast out de mons, but it will cure rheumatism, and hundreds bear testimony to the truth ot this statement. Guided by the new and elegant sign recently placed on the North street side of tho store, it was easy to hnd the place. Beholding we also believed, and we say to any of our lady readers who have had the misfortune to wreck their cactus plants in house cleaning, don't fret. Go to Fred Matthews and obtain the seed of bis new variety of "water" cactus, which planted at night is full grown in the morning. Fred has a corner on the trade and is not selling the seed and secret of culture in job lots. In short, drop in yourself, and, unless your eyes are blinded to both beauty and truth, you will come away fully convinced that what we say is no hum bug eyen if the plant is. Village Improvements. The Village of Yale has reached that point where a large amount of labor is required to keep its streets and side walks in repair and to secure fuel and other necessaries for its public build ings. An examination of the neces sary expenditures now paid out will convince any taxpayer that the Village needs a team and vehicles to attend to the public business. A team may be profitably employed in drawing the coal for the power house and school buildings; in grading the public streets; in drawing gravel for the village; in sprinkling the streets throughout the village, residence streets as well as Main street; in drawing material and supplies of all kinds. The amount we now pay to get this work done will make the investment in a team a very profitable one. The amount we are now paying to those who drive their own teams to do this work, together with what we pay a street commissioner will certainly pay the wages of a man the year through to run the team and attend to sidewalk repairs. The attention of our business men, the president and council, and taxpay ers generally, is called to these facts. An investigation and fair consider ation of these will convince all that the plan proposed will work advantage to the Village and save us cash. Carnival, May 9th. Don't miss it.
