Those present spent a very pleasant and enjoyable day. Chas. Murray, of Lynn, wasaken to Port Huron by Deputy Sheriff Wooley where he refused to plead to a charge of criminal assault in the police court and a plea of not guilty was entered. Bail was fixed at 5300 to appear for trial July 12. The Deckerville Recorder has been chanced to a seven column quarto, which is evidence that its publishers are prospering. This newspaper is one of the best in tho lhumb of Mich igan and we congratulate Bros. Smith & Ilelmka on their enterprise. The Dr. is looking hale and hearty and says he is enjoying a fine practice in his new location. Dr. Warner Cornell, Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist, of 229 Huron ave., over Knill's drug store, Port Huron, will be at the liapley House, Yale, the second Friday of each month where he can be consulted on diseases of above organs only. Glasses fitted. His next visit will be on Friday, July 12th. He will be in his Port Huron, office every day in the month except Fridays. Under the present dog law owners will get a receipt and a tag, bearing tho consecutive number of receipt, when they pay their township tax this fall. The collector will report to the sheriff all who have not paid the dog tax and the latter will notify his dep uties in the various townships to col lect the tax or kill the dog. Tho town ship dog warden system has been abolished. As is the case each year about a dozen citizens of School district No. 1 were present at the annual school meeting held in Yalo High school room. The assessor and director read the reports of money received and ex pended during the past year and on motion these reports were accepted and adopted. The past week has been one of ac cidental arm breaking among the little tots. Hex, five-year-old eon of Grant Holdon, while playing in Mrs. Eva Black's yard climbed up on the grape arbor from which position he fell to tho ground breaking his left arm above the elbow. On Monday Burnel, seven-year-old son of Dr. Wight was drawing a buggy out of his father's barn and while in the act tripped and in falling broke one of the bones of his left arm above the wrist. Both young lads are doing as well as could be expected. The Sanilac County republican has the following to say of two of Yale's young men: "The Manley Bros., of Yale, inform us they intend to open a carringo painting and decorating shop as soon as they can find a suitable lo cation in Sanilac Centre. If we are to judge from their work we would say that it is highly commendable to any one. They have decoratod tho in terior of several houses here. The husband and children of the late Mrs. Amanda McGregor wish to tender their heartfelt thanks to all those who so kindly assisted or offered assistance in their recent trouble. Everybody will hail the change in the revenue law which went into effect July 1st. By this change the tax is wholly repealed on bank checks, certificates of deposit, promissory notes, money orders, bills of lading, express receipts, telephone and tele graph messages, all kinds of insur ance, protests, leases, mortgages, Fowers of attorney, chewing gum, per umery, cosmetics, and proprietary medicines. Congressman Edgar Weeks, of the Seyenth District, sailed from Brook lyn, N. Y., July 10, taking passage on board the United States transport Mc Lellan for Manila. He will visit all points of intorest on the islands and come home by way of Japan and San Francisco thus making a trip around the world. Mr. Weeks' trip will cover a period of three months. This is the third time Mr. Weeks has planned to yisit the islands. The other two times his plans fell through, the last time the transport Ingalls in which he was to take passage slid off from its drv dock and sank in eighty feet of water. we expect to publish interesting let ters of his trip in Tho Expositor. Report reached tbi9 village July 4th that Edward, the 17-year-old son of Samuel Herbert, of Port Huron, was drowned that afternoon while in bath ing in Lake Huron, off LakesicLa Park. It is supposed that not being a swim mer he got beyond bis depths. Tho body was recovered in about fifteen minutes, but life was extinct. At a meeting of the attorneys of Port Huron held last week Tuesday, Jas. A. Muir, Alex. Moore and Frank T. Wolcott wero appointed a com mittee to furnish Congressman Weeks with the necessary data regarding the creation of a federal court in this dis trict to present to tho judiciary com mittee of Congress to secure tho court. Judge Whipple-has prepared a map showing the territory that tho propos ed federal court will take in. The need of such a court i9 very eyident and attorneys feet confident that they can secure it. Roode bid his many Yale friends good-bye on Saturday last and started for a visit to friends in Detroit and other parts of the stale.
