Previous to the eclipse it was bright moonlight but toward midnight the light became somewhat dim and about one o'clock there was only adark spot in the sky which indicated the moon. The coming of St. Valentine's day is ever welcomed with eagerness and de light by the young folks. It is a day that belongs to the young alone. Wednesday, this important day, was as lively as ever before in school and postoflice where numerous cupid's darts were exchanged. There were also many comic valentines which in most opinions should be abolished. A little over a week ago Dick Wind sor slipped from the back steps of his barber shop and fell on his side. He suffered considerably from the Injury received but not until Monday of this week did he know he had broken one of his ribs. Dick does not believe in sitting down and waiting 'till the broken rib mends but may be found busy at his barber shop every day. Miss Koy was called to her home near Capac last Friday afternoon on account of the serious illness of her mother. The condition of Miss Koy's mother is such that it has become ne cessary for her to give up her position in the primary department of our public schools and she will leave this week not to return until the fall term opens. Many a little heart will weep when she goes. Mabelle Herbert will take Miss Hoy'a place and a Miss Moore of Mt Pleasant, will look after the second grade work. The 77th birthday of Mrs. Caroline Holden was, as always is the custom of her children, pleasantly remembered. The anniversary occurred on Tuesday, February 13, but as it was impossible for all to be present on that day, a quiet dinner was given on Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. .John Holden, with twenty seven relatives in attend ance.
