The above tablo or llgurcs, compiled from the olllclal government statis
tics, shows that for three years of Democratic rule and live years of rebellion
from 1800 to 1805 inclusive there was a deficit in the national treasury. Prom
18G0 to 1873 Inclusive there was a Republican surplus to apply to wiping out
the national debt. Cleveland went in March 4, 1893, and for that year tho
surplus nearly disappeared. In 1894 and 1895 tho deficit due to Democratic
mismanagement, of revenues and finances ran up to over 8112,000,000. Draw
your own conclusions.
