' The City of Salem and the State of Ortgon are equally in terested in the struggle to bring in pure mountain water, The bad advertising this city is getting alone would be worth while overcoming in the future interest of the city. As a positive factor for the growth of the city nothing can be done that will double th population of Salem as quick ly as bringing in mountain water, t From a real estate standpoint, bringing in mountain water or even taking the decisive steps that will clinch the matter would add to! the value of every foot of property in and around" Salem. The United States government is favorable to the project, The State government is favorable to the proposition, The County government, the school district ,and the city government are favorable, The charter has been amended so that the city can handle the necessary-bond issue. The appraisement of tht'old -water plant has been made by three competent engineers, , Asurvey has been made and the cost of the pipeline to the mountains has been ascertained. The preliminarie have all been gone through with and there remains only action necessary to bring all thee matter into a harmonious conclusion There are no serious obstacles in the way and there is nothing to , do but go ahead. It is tso be regretted that all the work could not have been completed sooner and lie under way at present, But this community is warned that the state will not stand for the further delay or inaciviy. , The limit of patience has been reached and there is only a small margin of forbearance left now, The days of grace for the capital city to make good are lim ited and there might as well be a plain understanding of this, , , ' Let those in authority take notice that action and nothing but action will ave the day in this matter, ALBANY RAPIDLY School Census Shows Healthy Increase in Population Over Last Year.
