NEW CITY DIRECTORY ESTIMATES POPULA
TION AT 116,000.
The new directory of Salt Lake City and its
suburbs, Issued by Polk & Company, is off the
press and ready for distribution, containing
fifty-eight thousand one hundred and fifteen names

United States, the present population of Salt
Lake City and its suburbs is estimated at one

The figures are flattering to the city, and show
its rapid growth in the population during the past
few months. The first directory issued by the
Polk Company in Salt Lake was that of 1897,
sholwng a population of seventy-four thousand, four
hundred and twelve. The count of fifty-eight thou
sand, one hundred and fifteen names in this year's
directory does not Include the names of firms
or corporations, removals or death notices. The
suburbs listed in the book include Fort Douglas,
Murray, Sands', West Jordan and Garfield. The
directory as a whole is splendidly gotten up, and
contains much valuable information in addition
to the directory proper. Each department has
been carefully prepared, and the book is a credit
to the firm, and to the local manager, W. P.
Cooper.

DON'T BE AFRAID.
Don't get it into your head that during the
coming week or two, when the big crowds are
here, that we can't accommodate our many
friends at luncheon, dinner or after the theatre,
giving them the same excellent service for which
this cafe is noted from one end of the country
to the other.
We have in every way anticipated the de
mands that will be made upon us, and have se
cured a double crew in every department for day
and night in order to servo our customers in
the same way that we do when no unusual events
are transpiring locally.
We also wish to call attention to the fact that
our menus will be just as complete each day, in
spite of the rush, as at? any other time of the
year, and all the delicacies of the season will be
provided, together with our new Imported beers
and anything else anyone wants to drink.
Patriotic music, appropriate to the occasion
of the coming of the veterans, will be one of the
many features of the day and evening musical
