B " Tht Nevtr Subititutori " H : Bi and our trade with China is falling off because of the fall in the price of silver. Hill, of course, is a big man, but he is also classed as a conservative conservative enough at least in his financial views to be accounted free from "financial heresy," from "fifty-cent dollar lunacy." In brief, although he wears a soft hat and does not often indulge in the luxury of a hair-cut, he is sufficiently wealthy so that there is not one of the frock-coated, silk-hatted, tribe along Wall or Broad street that would be afraid to march beneath his banner. It is a good thing that a man like Hill lias taken up the cause of the down-trodden metal. One may from now on repeat the word "silver" in the financial centers of the east without be ing arrested on suspicion of being a lunatic. A. B.
