It will be the first presentation of the famous old show here in many seasons, and Mr. Ingersoll, and the players who are now there with him are thoroughly capable of giving it in a manner that should prove enter taining. Mr. Ingersoll, Miss Dills, Miss Prlngle, Mr. Herblin, Mr. Seymour, Mr. Crosby and Mr. Peters will be seen in the various characters in the pre sentation, and an unusually elaborate production is promised for the week. The Curtis company, at the Shubert, opens this afternoon in "The Politicians,'' a musical show with more of a plot than is given the usual run of Curtis plays. It will continue through t ? week and Charlton Chase and Maude Beatty will be seen in the leading role. "MISS HOBBS." Honors among the players of the Ingersoll com pany at the Garrick this week go to Margaret Dills, the talented girl whose work has been one of the chief delights of the Ingersoll shows since the Garrick began its season of high class stock plays. In the title role of the comedy Miss Dills is delightfully effective and with Mr. Ingersoll car ries Jerome K. Jerome's pleasing play to a most successful close. "Miss Hobbs" was Annie Rus sell's great success and the Ingersoll players have presented it in a finished and unusually well act ed way. The engagement closes with tonight's performance. ORPHEUM. Far superior to the bill of the weeit in weed ing, yet containing many repeaters, the Orpheum had practically a monopoly during the early part of the week among those houses in which travel ing shows are seen. It did not suffer for patron age, even with the coming of John Mason. IJert Kalman and Jessie Brown are the breez iest pair on the program. Their songs are new and their dances are excellent, in direct contrast to Jeanette Adler and her dancing pickaninnies. Jeanette should take a little rest for a season or two. The public needs it. Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Colby opened the bill with a mixed entertainment which gets a good start, but is distanced at the quarter. The Four Rianos in their acrobatic comedy diversion "In Africa" are always good, and their act bears repetition better than the majority of novelties. They are truly wonderful acrobats and indulge in that form of horse play which is entertaining without being a bore. William Flemen and his players in his sketch "Back to Boston" adds a lot of fun and a touch of pathos to the evening's entertainment. The vernacular of the champion middle Weight is de licious and the sketch is in every way attrac tive. The Bison City Four, seen before, are very good, and the Jack Artois pair, comedy bar gym nasts give a finished performance. A wizened little man charged his wife with cruel and abusive treatment. His better half, or in this case better two-thirds, was a big, square jawed woman with a determined eye. The judge listened to the plaintiff's recital of wrongs with interest. "Where did you meet this woman who, according to your story, has treated you so dread fully?" his honor asked. "Well, judge," replied the little man, making a brave attempt to glare de fiantly at his wife, "I never did meet her. She just kind of overtook me." - The next important step in the redemption of Utah is to Americanize Salt Lake county.
