Increased attention marketwise is bespoken for the Wasatch mining issues by two announce ments, one from New York, the other local. Cir culars received this week from New York declare that a campaign is being started in behalf of the Silver King Consolidated at Park City, the Spiro mine, whose sensational suit against the Silver King Coalition company has made it a news fea ture. It is rumored locally that the Alta Consoli dated, Mr. Tony Jacobson's latest phenomenon at Alta, is to be listed on the Salt Lake exchange. Such developments, in conjunction with the mer ger of the Michigan-Utah company at Alta, should afford traders a new corner in which to get ac tion on their money. FOLLY'S DECISION. By Bessie L. Russell. The woman had climbed to the hill-top called Vision. Breathless, she looked around her as if expecting some one. The night was crisp and cold. The fair-haired creature shivered and looked longingly toward the valley whence she had come and whither she would fain be return ing. Men called her name Folly. "Have you been waiting long?" said one who evidently had arisen suddenly out of the dark ness. His name was Wisdom. "Long! you old duffer! I should say I had. But why did you wish to see me? Is there any thing you could impart to one of my build?" And Folly laughed softly, as was her wont. "Much," replied Wisdom, "but first you must , live away from the scintillating lights." "But that is my atmosphere," said Folly quickly. "Without it I could not live." "Yet in it your life will be brief. Would you not prefer length of days? See see my silver beard." The snow-flakes fell fast as he spoke. "That depends, Oh Wisdom. You are deny ing yourself all that makes life worth while, that men may call you wise. Is not that, in itself, a form of canity?" Wisdom evaded this thrust and, after the manner of wise ones, went on with his theme. "It is the moral law," he said, "that we con form to that which is good and eschew that which is harmful. Your way, Folly, is harmful." "But who made that law?" put In Folly, testily. "Can I not make a law, as well as another one?" Wisdom moved his head wearily, as if in pain at the affront. "Do, good woman, as I do," he said. "Feed and clothe the poor, listen to their wrongs, and rejoice with them in their feeble joys. Surely that is worth far more than the baubles you strive for you, in the scintillating lights." "But the poor don't always want just bread and meat and cast-off clothes. Sometimes," con tinued Folly, lightly, "sometimes they want to be amused, to sing, to dance, to love. All this I can give them, O Wisdom, and they long and" listen for my voice." Wisdom turned wearily away. To convince tho not-to-be-convinced, was not that the task of ages? "Well, Avell," ho said soothingly, "go back if you will; go back to tho scintillating lights." Then, half to himself, he muttered meditative ly, "After all, why should I grieve? She is what she is. The lights for her, then. And, anyhow, do not men call her name Folly?" St. Louis Mirror.
