Ellerbe'ck -was the hostess at the meeting of the Luncheon and Bridge club at her home in Federal Heights on Tuesday. With Mrs Paul F. Keyser as the motif, Miss Florence Halloran gave a bridge tea at her homo on Wednesday for forty friends. It was a pretty affair at which the appointments were in exquisite taste, as is always to be expected when Miss Hal loran entertains. A real program was given at Emery Hall on Wednesday under the direction of the elocu tion department of the University when Miss Sarah Gillespie gave a number of readings from Wilde, Macaulay, Wordsworth, Kipling and some other gentlemen who made their mark at one time or another. Mrs. Charles Cain who will leave shortly for San Francisco, and will sail during the month for Australia to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roundy was the complimented guest at a de lightful luncheon given by Mrs. William Reid on Thursday at 'which covers were laid for eight. Mrs. W. D. Donoher entertained a number of friends at a delightful luncheon at her home in Haxton Place on Wednesday. Miss Gertrude McGrath entertained informally at bridge at her home on Tuesday. Dr. A. H. DeNike and John R. Sebree were welcomed home during the week after giving the people of San Francisco, Los Angeles, Coronado, Pasadena, Long Beach and Oakland, a treat by their presence. They were waited on .by insistent delegations at every stopping place urging them to stay, but finally escaped and will remain here for another year. Miss Mary Hagenbarth has returned to Lake Forest, Illinois. Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Harding have gone east and will return in February. Miss Claudia Green has returned to Stanford after spending the holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Green. Mrs. W. H. Dale left for Los Angeles yester day. Mrs. Edward L. Carpenter who with Mr. Carp enter will leave shortly for an extended trip to South America, was the honored guest at a beau tiful luncheon given on Tuesday by Mrs. Frank W. Cameron. Covers were laid for fourteen. Mrs. N. A. Robertson entertained the mem bers of. the Cypress Bridge club at her home on Thursday. Miss Afton Young has gone to Seattle where she is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth C. Kerr. Mrs. Ariel F. Cardon and Mrs. Lewis T. Can non have gone to Washington where they will remain until spring. Mrs. Carden will visit her parents, Senator and Mrs. Reed Smoot and Mrs. Cannon her parents, Congressman and Mrs. Jo seph Howell. Colonel and Mrs. D. C. Jackling and a number of friends sailed early in the week for Mexico in their yacht Cypress.
