This trail was f first broken by the Indians in generations past; following them I were the trappers who set their traps along the streams and in the I glens; then came the ill-fated Donner party of '46, Brigham Young and his Pioneers in '47, the Gold-crazed California Forty-Niners, f the famous Mormon Hand Cart Company in '5G, and many other I companies that have helped to make this trail one of the great landmarks of our country. ji A trip over this trail today offers none of the hardships of $iji years ago.
