The marriage of Miss Zora Augusta Shaw and Edward Everett Hoffman took place in San Fran cisco on Now Year's day, Miss Evelyn Snow entertained at a trousseau tea at her homo on Wednesday, where she was assisted by her mother, Mrs. Ashby Snow and Miss Agnes Clive. A number of social affairs have been planned for Miss Snow, who will be married during the coming week to Wayne Decker. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Groesbeck have returned from the east, where they visited friends and rel atives during the holidays. Dr. and Mrs. J. T. Keith and Miss Katheryne Keith have returned from Evanston, where they spent the holidays with Mrs. Keith's family. The Elks kept open house at their club house on Monday all afternoon and evening, entertain ing their friends in their usual hospitable man ner. Mr. and Mrs. E A. Culbertson gave a dinner at their apartments In the Mecklenburg on Sun- -day night. Mrs. William Payne Cooper has announced the engagement of her daughter, Ruth, to William Ewart Ferron, who formerly lived in this city, but now resides in Las Vegas, New Mexico. The wed ding will take place February 7th, Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Stephenson of Cincin nati were the honored guests at a smart dinner given by Mr. and Mrs. Lee Charles Miller at their home on Tuesday, A large number of the younger society set were entertained at a dancing party at the Ladies' Literary club on Tuesday night by the Misses Sarah and Leah Burton and Miss Belle Livings ton. Mrs. Ira H. Lewis and her mother, Mrs. M. E. Smith, have returned from Atlantic City, Mrs. G. E. Dangerfield entertained fourteen friends on New Year's day in honor of the birth day anniversary of her daughter, Gladys. Miss Olive Wall, daughter of Col. and Mrs. E, A. Wall, has returned to Smith college. She was accompanied as far as Chicago byMiss Mary Wall. Miss Wall will return home today. Miss Elsa Bamberger leaves for the east to day, where she will complete her senior year at Smith. Miss Edith Godbe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Godbe, has returned to Boston to resume her musical studies. Miss Gertrude Geoghegan and Miss Kathleen Geoghegan entertained at a matinee party on Tuesday followed by a tea at the Utah in honor of Miss Evelyn Snow.
