ASSOCIATED CHAKITIKS IX GOOD CONDITION The financial condition of the As sociated Charities is very good and a largo amount of worlc has already boon done this winter. However, any donations of either clothing or monoy will bo cheerfully received and will bo put to good use. Thus far this year tho Associated Charities has glvon out nearly ono hundred and twcnty-flvo dollars In money to tho poor of tho city and In all have helped financially fourteen families. This is in addition to the families that havo boon helped by the county through the Associated Char ities. Clothes havo been glvon out to many more families in tho city and they havo been given out wisely and to goody advantage. Mrs. MaeKay, who haafchargo of tho giving out of tho clo'thes, stays at tho library building three nftornoons each week and has given out a vast numbor of good, wearable clothes. Contributions of clothing havo been qulto generous and all that havo been received Jmvo been put in- good shape for wear. Tho Associated Charities, through tho president, Miss Anna C. Kramph, also arranged with Mr. McDermott of, tho Pacific Fruit Express company, to uso ns much labor as possible through tho lco liarvest. About one hundred and fifty famillco received aid in this way. Charity has been dla pensed moro thoroughly and efficient ly, also moro economically, this win tor than ever beforo in tho history of North Platte. Tho needy havo been well provided for and tho Impostors havo been discouraged from remaining long in our city. Many of tho business men have also commented upon the fact that tlioy have been bothered less this year with peoplo sooklng charity than ever before. Itoports from tho poormaster of tho county would tend to show that North Platto is in a better condition this win ter, ns charity goes, than over beforo. This is largely duo to tho fact that there has as yet been no extremely bitter weather and that more local men aro employed this year than be fore Tho experiment of tho Associ ated Clmrltios this year, however, has proven beyond a doubt that It la indis- pensiblo to any city tho slzo of North Platte. Good Program at the High School Tho literary sockUy of tho high school met Friday evening for Us first meeting slnco its organization, with a good attendance and an excellent pro gram. This soctety Is fast becoming popu lar with tho high school body and will undoubtedly work for tho benefit of , tho high school ntmospherc as well as for tho wolfaro of tho entire city. County Altornoy Clbbs Friday filed a complaint of burglary in tho county court ngainct Bort Boyor. Boycr is charged with tho burglary of tho Vienna cafo about a week ago. He will bo given hearing some tlmo his week. Boyer was arrested Saturday even ing, January 2nd and lodged In tho county Jail. They were unablo to get a case against him and later ho was released. Somo important evidence wns later found and ho will now bo tried on tho charge. Mr. Hupfer had missed about fifty dollars worth of goods, but tho case will bo much more serious on account of breaking and entering. Not So Slow. Thero wore 14,002 boy babies born in Nebraska during the year 1914, and 1,300 fewer girls. Tho total number of children born was 20,704. The fig ures are given in the annual vital sta tistical review of the state board of health. In the year thero were 12,157 wed dings and 2,150 attempts to separate. Nino hundred and seventy of these wero based on charges of cruelty.
