WATERBURY EVENING DEMOCRAT, SATURDAY, acricwueu i, aao. MIXTURE OF POISONS. THREE DEADLY DRUGS FOUND IN MRS. BLISS' BODY. The Now York rollc Think That Sir. FletnlDC Borgia, and They Are to Make Out a Case Acaiust lior From This Standpoint. New Voiik. Sept. 7. In tho poisoning of Mis. Kvoliu.i Bliss, of which crimo her daughter, limy Alico Livingston, other wise known ;s Airs. Fleming, is aeeuseil, tho police believe they lmvo a geuuino Borgia to deal with. Tho combination of poisons which Chemist Scheele's report shows were found in the stomach iiiui intestines of tho dead woman have strengthened the theory of the poiiee that the poisoning was the outeomo of a earefully jiUmneil conspiracy, and that the licensed, Mrs. Fleming, had at least one, if not more than one, accomplice. All duy yesterday tho police worked on this theory. Thoy have tho man under close surveil lance, and his arrest is liable to bo ordered at any moment. The police are also endeavoring to traco the whereabouts of Archibald Cornelius, the coachman who has at different times played such an important part, in the re markable and sensational history of the allcprod matricide. Cornelius has mysteri ously disappeared, and up to this morn ing no trace of his whereabouts lias been discovered. Cornelius has been living with his brother-in law. 1). "Do you eonteiupl.at . further arrests in the case today:"' the inspector was asked. "I cannot tell when other arrests will bo mtide. " ho answered. The poiiee believe and are working on tho theory that Mrs. Fleming had at least one accomplice, and that t hey have a sus pected person under close surveillance is correct. This suspected person they will arrest as soon as thoy have put themselves in the possession of certain evidence which they are now seeking. Ijswyers li;iv and Brooke both declared yesterday that tho statement made by tho police that thiyhad found a package of powders In the rooms of Mrs. Fleming was false. Lawyer Shaw openly asserted that it. was his belief that the police wero at work manufacturing evidence against the womau now imprisoned in tho Tomba. William llenrj Ilurlbnt Dead. The Four-year-old Champion Racing Mare Looks Like a Possible Queen. Tho swiftest trotter in training today, with tho exception of Azoto, U:05S, tho gelding kinpc, is Bouzotta, 2:084, tho 4-year-old champion racing maro of tho world. Beuzetta is thundering to the wire with a wondtrful burst of speed and no great amarement would bo felt by her ad mirers should tho gamo little chestnut get. very close to tho 8:08 of Alix, queen of the turf, before tho snow flies. Bouzotta is a daughter of Onward, out of Boulah by Harold. Sho is a superb young mare in conformation and action, and if it wero not for her somewhat plain head, badly set on to a short, straight neck, sho would be an equine beauty to rival Alix, tho handsomest of all fast trotters. Beuzotta's BEfZETTA, 2:0C4. deep, loosely laid, sloping shoulders, her short back, capacious body and llncly turned, muscular hind parts mako her a model of speedlike conformation. She is now in tho pink of condition, and in Orrin llickok's hands may coutinuc to reduce her already wonderful re-ard. Vntil she met the great Azoto in New York recently Bouzotta bad not been beat en iu two seasons. Klamath, Dan Cupid and other fast ones went down before her like wooden horses, and whi n Azote de feated her in New York she forced tho big (.elding out in 2:0ii':, 2:0ft1.. and 2:"7. In the second heat, when Azote trotted in 2:0ft'-. breaking tho world's gelding rec ord and the Fleetwood park track record of 2:0:1, joado by the cx-quccn, Nancy .Hanks, B ouzel ta was separately timed in 2:nt'. , despite the fact that she cast a shoo at tho half mile post. Bouztitta has trotted quarters in 0:31 and lias covered a half mile in 1:01 '3. After her race with Azote she was pur chased for $!i"..roO by W. E. 1"). Stokes and will ho trained in tho future by Orrin Hiekok, the veteran reinsman. Beu.etta was not esteemed very highly as a colt. Her breeder. K. W. Ayres of Kentucky, sent her to nn auction sale ill New York, when she was a 2-yoar-eld, but being dis satlsiled with the lack of bidding on so well bred a filly bought her in for falio and took her back to Kentucky. Last year sho came out asa ti-year-old and won the Ken tucky Futurity, worth ?22,.MX in cash, and closed the season the largest winner of t ho campaign. Burr Mcintosh's Quest. Burr Mcintosh, tho Taffy of ' Triiliy" lit the Garden theater. New York, is quito an authority on football. Ho used to be a New York newspaper reporter before ho went on the staare. and this season he will V. rif e gos.-ip of tho sport and report the Sat urday games within lftO miles of that city for a syndicate of newspapers. To do this he will have to employ a capable actor, satisi'ai tory to his manager, to play his part at the Saturday niatineo and evening performances. He i.s looking for the actor and is willing to pay him $tiO per week. The actor that gets the engagement will have a soft snap, for he will have all but Sat urdays to himself. It i.s not believed that a similar instance is to be found iu the unnals of the st.age. The Mnrh Abated Property !ttan. It is the custom of a good tunny out of town stock companies to foist, the unim portant parts of a play upon tho long suf fcrinsr property man, who has to hus'le hc.K.cnjto during tho day and glitter behind the footlights at nifilit. A youth who had these indignities thrust upon him waxed very indignant once lust week. He found that three small roles had boon assigned to hi:u. "Say," he remarked to tho stage manager, "you can't expect mo to play two people who are on at tho same time and are oven supposed to flpht, can you?" The stafto manager prinned. "Why, yes," he said, "and you miftht arrange it that the third part comoon and separate them." Prominent Pnseengcri on the New torn, Xkw York, Sept. 7.
