SUBSCRIPTION RATES: One Dollar per Month: Ten Centsa Copy •____ SEWARD, ALASKA, SKI*. 2, 1908 RUSSIAN VENGEANCE The Russian government has long been looked upon as one of the most oppressive and severe governments now in existance. Without doubt a vast deal of deserved sympathy is ex-1 tended to the oppressed subjects of that monarchy. But there are occasional reports coming from that country which show that all the severity and j heartlessness is not confined to the governing classes. A report has re centlvcotne from St. Petersburg which * indicates that the revolutionists are, if; possible, more revengeful than thej government itself. It is stated that a ** ... i family of .lews was accused of giving ; information to the authorities regard- j ing the activities of the revolutionists. 1 In order to wreak their vengeance up on their supposed informers they went. to their home in the night, threw two; bombs through the window and opened lire on members of the family with re volvers and shot to death the father, a | daughter, a woman guest and her child. The mother,a son. a son-in-law, and two grandsons were severely wounded. The victims who were still alive were conveyed to a hospital. The revolutionists marched upon the hospital, overpowered the nurses and <niards and shot to death the mother; and son. It may he that subjects oi the t /.ar of Russia have learned their cruelty from the government, but without doubt the government has a class of subjects to deal with who are fully as oppres sive as the government itself. Many of that class of subjects, through the | greed of steamship companies and » mine operators, have been imported as ! laborers into this country. The re-1 suits of this immigration are likely to cause serious governmental problems in the future. Moot meat the Branch Wall paper at Holman's ^—9Jmm J J. A.
