Sea Otter Catch
News comes from Dutch Harbor that
the sealing schooner Thomas F.
Bayard of Victoria has taken 28 sea
otter skins off the Shumagin islands.
This is the biggest catch of this fur
bearing animal for many years. The
catch is worth over $20,000. Two of
the crew of the schooner are reported
to have been washed over board and
drowned. ___
