They Swiped His Hams

The baseball club gave its usual
dance Saturday evening, and had ad
vertised a surprise for all those who
were there promptly at 8;30 o’clock.
As the hour for opening the dance ap
proached, the boys began to look
about for some means by which they
could make good their promise. It
chanced that S. W. Taggart, agent for
Swift’s Premium Hams, was in town
with a good supply of hams. These
the baseball club managed to swipe,
and made good the promised surprise
at the dance by presenting each one
of those coming on time, with one of
Swift’s Premium Hams. The result
I was not only a complete surprise, but
changed the cook’s plans for the next
day as every body in town had ham in
stead of chicken for their Sunday
dinner.
Steamer Shelikof
The Shelikof came into port about
9 o’clock yesterday morning. She is
a cannery boat and came here to send
some cable messages to San Francisco.
