HIGH COURT’S
RULING FAVORS
GOV. SULZER
Albany, X. V.. Oct. 1—The chief
justice of tlie New York state supreme
court handed down a decision in the
Sulzer case, in re the status of the
impeachment proceedings now on in
the state senate.
The decision holds that the prosecu
tion, in the pending impeachment trial
cannot introduce evidence tending to
prove that Governor Sulzer traded sect
ional legislation for votes in favor of
legislation which he was advocating,
such as the state primary law.
The decision in other points is also
favorable to sulzer, and it is believed
that the impeachment proceedings
will hing solely on the charge that the
governor misused campaign funds.
Sulzer’s friends and supporters are
jubilant over the decision. They say
it will be impossible to impeach him
under the court's ruling.
