Seward is doomed to have a disas trous tire unless prompt action is taken in ihe matter of inspecting the Hues and chimneys of the town. It is sate to say that, at this time, not oue-half of the safety Hues in Seward are safe in any tiling but name* and it is posi tively and criminally dangerous to built a tire during this windy weather in halt of the stoves in this town. It is a matter that should be looked after at once. There is an city ordinance in Seward against the neglect of dan gerous Hues. Col. Sapp will leave Seattle on the Admiral Evans enroute to Hope. Mr. Sapp is planning on spending the seas on in the Turnagain arm district and will have with him Jack Ed mist on, the well known miner and prospector. Col. Sapp is prepared to open up a property iu that section and if the showing warrants will make prepara tions to put a small mill on the proper ty next winter. m Joseph Hofman has the Ishkababel on the beach undergoing some neces sary repairs before taking her run between Seward and Baranof. Joe expects to begin his season’s planting next week. Monday night is council night. Im portant business will be up before the august body, such as selecting a city treasurer and city attorney for the coming year. The repairs on the Daggett block are practically completed now and is | one of the most sightly corners in | town. It is as near tire proof as ashes- j tos and sheet steel can make a build-1 ing. _ At last reports the steamer North western was in Cordova, scheduled to sail west at 3 o’clock this afternoon. This should bring her to Seward about the same time tomorrow afternoon.
