Far be it from us to criticize the ac
tions of President Wilson in the pres-!
ent affair with Mexico, but at that we
can’t help but wish that the incumbent
of the presidential chair had some oi
the strenuosity of one of the most fa
mous of our living ex-presidents. Of
course there is a great deal concern
ing the attitude taken by the adminis
tration of which we know nothing, but
to a man up a tree, and that is the po
sition that Alaskans have occupied for
a long time, it looks as though we had
suffered enough indignities at the
hands of a bunch of bandits to warrant
us in administering some needed pun-j
’ ishment. Our Hag lias been pulled \
down and trampled in the dust, our j
official representative has been dragged |
through the streets and thrown in jail 1
on a shadowy pretext, our cit izens j
have been tortured and Killed and
forced to seek protection under a for
eign Hag and our marines have been ;
killed in the streets of Vera Cruz, and
still we hesitate. Can it be that we!
are going hack when an aggregation :
of outlaws can thus insult us in this ;
matter and we accept the services of
Brazil, Argentine, and Chile, three j
other black and tan nations to act as
intermediators and square the matter?

NOTICE OF FORFEITURE.
To George Buzard. J. O. Buzard, E. H. Meikle
john. It. O. Myers. R. I). Brown and Meikle
john & Company, their heirs, executors and
to whom it may concern:
You are hereby notified that the undersigned
has expended during the year 1913 the sum of
one hundred dollars in labor and improvements
on each of the following mining claims, and the
additional sum of eight dollars and fifty cents
($8.50) for proof of said labor; said claims being
situated in the Kenai Mining District, near
Hope. Alaska, towit:
The Teddy Bear. Teddy Bear No. 3.
Teddv Bear No. 1. Teddy Bear No. 4,
Teddy Bear No. 2,
and one tunnel site, all of which are duly re
corded in the Recorder's Office at Seward,
Alaska.
The amount claimed and due to the under
signed from the respective parties mentioned
is as follows:
George Buzard, fifty-three dollars and fifty
four cents.
J. O. Buzard. three dollars and four cents.
E. 11. MeiUlejohn, three dollars and four
cents.
K. (\ Myers, three dollars and four cents.
R. 1). Brown, three dollars and four cents.
MeiUlejohn & Company, one hundred and six
ty-eight dollars and 11 fty-tlve cents.
if within ninety days after publication of this
notice, you fail or refuse to contribute and pay
over to the undersigned, or to his order, the
amounts specified, then the interests of all or
any of the above named co-owners who become
delinquent under the provisions of this notice,
is claimed and shall become the property ol
the undersigned, as specified in Section 2324 of
the Revised Statutes of the United States and
the amendments thereto concerning annual
!ahot on mining claims, such interests of the
above named parties shall and will become the
property of the undersigned, on failure to con
tribute their part of such assessment as levied
by order of the share-holders of the Kenai
