Editor Roanoke Rapids Herald.
Roanoke Rapids, N. C.
Dear Sir:—
Several days ago we plucked
what seemed to be “The Last Rose
of Summer"; however there are
still many bright colorful blossoms
untouched by the cold, and the
flowers of autumn are right at
this time more beautiful than ever.
The trees are just turning from
green, red and gold to a dark
brown; soon all leaves will obey
the call of the wind and fall to
the earth, yet all winter we will
have our evergreen trees of pine,
cedar and holly. Well do we real
ize that man can erect the most
beautiful buildings but
“Only God can make a tree.”
Mrs. Ruby Sims Rudd,
Richmond, Va.
IN MEMORIAM
In memory of our dear husband
and father, Richard Emmett Gray,
who left us on November 18, 1938.
It’s been only a year
Since God took him away;
But as long as we live
We shall never forget that sad
day.
'Twill be a wonderful, happy day
Up yonder on the golden strand,
When we hear Jesus say,
Shake hands with him again.
Your loving wife,
and children.
Ease Women’s Pain
Periodic upsets—headaches, nerv
ousness, cramp-like pain—are often
caused by functional dysmenorrhea
due to malnutrition. Many find its
symptoms yield when they stirnu
ilate appetite and digestion by using
CARDUI and so build up physical
resistance. Many also report that
CARDUI just before and during
“the time” helps ease pain and dis
comfort. CARDUI has been used
for more than 50 years.
IN MEMORIAM
In remembrance of our dear hus
band and father, Mr. John G.
Brown, who departed this life nine
months ago today, Oct. 27, 1939.
As the golden sun was sinking,
There was one clear call for thee,
There will be no moaning at the
bar
When I put out to sea.
Dear one, we tried to be brave
When your sunset and evening call
And you put out to sea,
God called and had His way;
Now we are alone, and no daddy
can we see.
No place to go, no one to cheer—
You took it all when you left here;
We miss you so we can’t be brave,
As we look upon your lonely grave;
Although I try to please the One
above that knows it all,
Until for me He makes His call.
Many things have happened,
The way is hard to see;
But John, I make this plea—
That Heaven will help me on with
out thee.
Wife, Uzelia N. Brown.
IN MEMORIAM
In remembrance of Francis War
ren, who was killed Sept. 14, 1939.
It has been two months ago today
Since Jesus called her away
I don’t know why He took her,
But Jesus has a plan,
And He works great mysteries,
That we don’t understand.
She has gone to the Heavenly
home on high, 'j
Where we hope to meet her in the
sweet by and by. f
She was a sweet child to love and .
adore, j
And Francis I think of you more'
and more. ;
Each minute, each hour, each day
and week,
And many times when others are
asleep.
Francis dear, I loved you in life,
And in death I do the same;
How sweet it will be when Jesus
says,
Shake hands with your friends and
kinfolks again.
Her aunt,
Mrs. J. B. Reid,
