With the announcement this week by the play committee that an all male cast, old time Negro minstrel will he presented December 14 and 15, Rosemary will have its first op portunity to see a show with a cast selected entirely from the employ ees. It will he high class enter tainment with three opening scenes and a circle. We will give you more dope next week. ® —o—■ Sadie Hawkins Day was a big success. Everybody seemed to en joy the play, “It Happened In Dog patch" and the dance afterwards was a howling success. The play committee did a good job. _—n Roger Cullom as Hairless Joe was the hit of the show; so was Young Mahaffey dressed as Lonesome Polecat. Helen Stewart made a charming Daisy Mae. Mrs. Mildred Mills was an ideal Ma Yokum. Pa Yokum, portrayed by Bryant Gray, could have been no better. Misses Butler and Moon were the berries as Belinda Bargrease and Mitzi Mudlark. Chester Allsbrook acted a swell Mayor, George Outland was a nifty Ole Man Mose, Eddie Cam eron as the one and only Marryii.’ Sam did his job in fine style. Russ Deberry demonstrated, that he can act as well as win State Softball titles by doing Li’l Abner to a fare ye well. Pate Harris and Hank Stew-art acted the Scraggs boys to perfection. All in all it was a swell show. —o— Many words of praise should be said in regard to Mrs. Mildred Mills and Mrs. Mabel Allsbrook for directing the show. And to Byron Gurley, Frank Everettc, Dick “Swink” Lee, Red Carver, George Gurley, the Roberts Brothers and many others who handled the stage decorations. It was a swell job. -—o— Recreation Club members will be making a big mistake if they do not elect Rufus Mountford to the Board of Directors for next year. This corner is not entering any campaign for Rufus, but any per son who has had the interest that he has shown during the past year by being on duty every Friday and Saturday night as a special officer without pay and staying on until midnight, is bound to be interested in the club—therefore my reason for saying he should be a director. Now, I’ll have to fight Rufus! —o—■ Coach Steve Acai of Littleton High School dropped by last night to invite me up to that red hot tilt Friday, Dec. 8, between Littleton and Warrenton High School foot ball teams. The game will be play ed in Warrenton with outside of ficials and interest is running at fever heat in both towns. Steve, who is a former N. C. State athlete, is turning in a swell record at Littleton as head coach. Take a tip and see this game—it’ll be the Carolina-Duke battle over again, and then some! A certain drug store around town is pulling a swell stunt for kids by having a Santa Claus on display that really talks, and how! Many adult faces are turning red at cracks from Santa! —o— Dopey Dan says—thinking of some people: “Boasters should re member, though the rooster crows, the hen produces results.” And re garding Community Chest: “The charity that begins at home and re mains there is anemic. An occa sional outing will do it good”. And thinking of Santa Claus: “Do not judge the inside of a Christmas box by its wrapper”. —n— Rosemary Recreation takes a great deal of pride in endorsing the project put on by the City Fire Dept., that of collecting and repair ing broken toys for the little kid dies in the city. If you have any broken or used toys around that you do not need, remember it will probably make some kid happy at Christmas time. So just sit down and call R-355, and a fireman will be right around, take them away, repair them, repaint them and on Christmas Eve give them to some needy kid. "Animal" Sale On For Sat. Dec. 2nd There will be a big “animal” sale in Roanoke Rapids on Saturday, December 2. It will not be held at the Jim Davis’ Stables but all over the streets of the city.
