_ ■ NEWS FROM LITTLETON I ■ — Joint Birthday Party: — A lovely birtday party was given .•last Saturday at 4:30 o’clock. It was held in honor of little Miss Rosa Lee Sain, whose third birth day was a month or so ago, and of her little sister, Mary Ethel, who was a year old Saturday. Flags and books were given as favors. Patriotic colors were used for decorations. There were two birthday cakes with white icing trimmed in red, and blue candles; - a big one for Rosa Lee, and a *'small one for Mary Ethel with one candle. The little guests were: Louise Crawley, Don Lewis Bow ers, Albert Simms, Jr., Jean Davis, Charlotte Thorne, Matt Ransome Johnston, Carolyn and Harry King, Beth Cousin, Betsy Rose Pitt, Keyward Cheves, Jr., Roger Moore, Jr., Buddy McPher son, Helen Marie McPherson, Kay and Marjorie Jones, Dicky Moore, ^Sara Thomas, Jane Riggan, Rosa WLee and Mary Ethel, and Rebecca Leach. Attends Wedding: Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Bowers left last week for Portland, Ore., to attend the marriage of their son, Powell Bowers, of the U. S. Navy, to Miss Betty Shwering, which took place last Tuesday. ^ Announcement: Rev. and Mrs. C. B. Culbreth of Benson, announce the marriage of their daughter to James Moore Leach of Greensboro and Littleton, son of Mrs. John Leach and the late Mr. Leach. _ V '•.•7S ; •, Attends Wedding: Miss Carrie Myrick has return ed from Atlanta, Ga., where she attended the wedding of Miss 4 Marysue Edmondson, of Birming W ham, Ala., daughter of Mrs. Mark Edmondson, and the late Mr. Ed mondson, to Rom Parker, of En field, son of Mrs. Sarah Parker. Missionary Meetings: The Woman's Society of Christ ian Service meets Monday, July 9, at 8:00 p. m. The Woman's Auxiliary of the Presbyterian Church meets Mon day afternoon at 4:00. The Bible Study preceeds it at 3. Both meet ings are to be at the Church. Holds Revival Meeting: Rev. G. A. Hendricks, of near Apex, formerly pastor of the Lit tleton Baptist Church, is preach ing in a revival in the Rolesville Baptist Church this week. Holds Meeting: The R. A.'s met Friday night at iS 7:30 in the prayer room of the Baptist Church. It is reported to have been a good meeting. It will meet again this Friday at the same time, and every other Fri day. Mrs. John Ray Browning and small son, Micky, is visiting her parents in Henderson. Mrs. Charles B. Austin, of Mi ■ - ■ ■ ' — ■ ' 5 ami, Fla., and two children, are visiting Mrs. Harold Smith. Misses Elizabeth and Carrie Hel en. Moore have returned home after spending some time visiting in Norfolk, Edenton, and Wash ington, N. C. Rev. Albert E. Simms and son went to Raleigh last Sunday and returned home Thursday. Mrs. A. D. Allison of Hender son, js visiting Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Person. Leon Crawley, of Petersburg, Va., spent the week-end at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Crawley. Mrs. Viola Reed and Mrs. L. A. Goodwin, of Washington, spent the week-end in the home of Mrs. S. L. Bobbitt. Cadet Annie Farmer of Norfolk, is spending a few days with her mother, Mrs. A. P. Farmer. Mrs. N. B. Mustian and Mrs. Edward Hunter spent Thursday and Friday in Henderson visiting Mrs. G. B. Harris. Mrs. Hunter re turned via Raleigh. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Thorne of Charlotte, N. C., are visiting Miss es Tempe and Annie Thorne. Pfc. and Mrs. Milton Overby spent the week-end with his par ents in Warren Plains and with Mrs. Overby’s parents near Little ton. Mrs. C. H. Woodburn spent the week-end with her parents. Mrs. Sam Brown has returned from Brunswick, Ga., where she was called on account of the ill ness of her sister. Mrs. Edwin Stansbury» visited in Raleigh for a day or two last week. Miss Lucretia Jones went to Chapel Hill last Friday and spent the night in Durham. She spent Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Carey Durfey in Raleigh. Misses Louise Moore, Edith Hud son and Norine Grey went to War renton Saturday. Mrs. Marvin Newsom has re turned after spending some time with her mother in Norwoodv Mr. and Mrs. S. L. Crawley and Miss Laura Crawley, of Wilming ton, spent the week-end with rel atives.
