MANUAL TRAINING. PLACE AND PURPOSE.
"A nation can rise no higher than the ideals of its citizens and as the
majority of our citizens must be producers, it is the nation's duty to
educate and train his people for efficient production."
Manual Training is a course in woodworking, its object is to train
the child in elementry carpentry, thus forming a foundation for a
more advanced course, the trade of carpentry. It thus takes a place
as a means of efficient production a means by which that highest
faculty of the mind constructive faculty is developed.
As we believe that it is one of the duties of the school to hasten
the day when no man will be considered cultured who cannot work
efficiently with his hands, so let us understand, that this training
which puts knowledge into the brain and skill into the hands will
be no mean factor in the progress toward efficiency.
