Commencement Exercises at the Oglala
Boarding School, 1915:
The Annual Commencement exercise of the Oglala Indian Training
School marked the passing of another successful year in the history
of the school. The exercises were held from June 22 to June 24 in
clusive, and during practically the entire three days, the weather
conditions were most favorable. Large crowds from the immediate
locality attended all the exercises, which were pronounced by those
who have been here for many years the best in the school's history.
The exercises showed definite advancement over those in former
years in interest and practical suggestion. All the Commencement
exercises at this school were given with a view not only to graduating
a class, but for the further purpose of showing to the people the every
day activites of the various deportments of training and intruction.
On Tuesday evening there was given a program in a most ex
cellent manner, a practical demonstrations on what the boys and
girls are doing in their respective shops, by the Industrial Depart
ments, and the students spoke about the real things in life. The pro
gram was as follows:
