our country in time of war, we also train them to serve our country in time of peace. Our main idea is to fit them for the business of life to teach them due respect and loyal support to all lawful authority to develop higher standards of honor and individual responsibility to make them anxious to become self-supporting American citizens. Our system of military training demands of our cadets the funda mental virtues of honor, orderliness, self control, self-conlidence, im plicit obedience, respect for authority, and dependability. To these benefits of character must be added the increased powers of endur ance, the alertness, the well rounded physical development and the good presence and pleasing carriage that result from the continued exercise and daily routine of military life. Our system also demands the observance of due military courtesy, and this feature is particu larly wholesome in an age which tends to carlessness in matters of this kind. Cadets training under our system acquire an ease of man ner and poise that remains with them through life, and their sense of loyalty, which is more stongly developed in the military atmosphere than in any other place, will find expression later on in a similar sentiment towards their business organization, their community and their State. Our system of military training satisfies in inborn craving in the heart of every normal, red-blooded, active boy- Such a boy is sure to pass through a period when the glamour of things military makes a stronge appeal. The spirit of adventure stirs within him, and his pulses quicken at the thought of "march" and "camp," of "orders" and "command," of duties to perform and obstacles to overcome. One great point in favor of our system is that it interests a boy and when yon have interested a boy, you have opened up wonderful pos sibilities for his development. Also you have secured his confidence and active co-operation which will soon devlop into loyalty and the way is open for that much misunderstood term, discipline.
