Irwin Shepard- of Winona, secretary of-the National Educational Associa tion, will meet the local entertainment committee Monday to discuss plans for the convention. On Tuesday universi ty regents will meet and Mr. Shepard will probably ask for the use of the university grounds and buildings on Thursday night of convention, week It is the intention to hold a public re ception that night, and to have all the buildings open for inspection. The plan also contemplates an extensive illumination of the grounds. Of the 850 teacners employed in the Minneapolis schools, 600 have already notetied Secretary Nye of the Commer cial Club public affairs committee that they will be in Minneapolis con- vention week and will attend the meet ings. Others to the number of 150 have written that they will probably be here but cannot yet promise de finitely. Each day brings letters from outside the state which indicate that the Minneapolis, convention will have the largest attendance in the history of the organization. Every effort is being made to provide visitors with exact information regard ing the city and its suburds. The convention stationary will have -a map on its reverse side, showing the loca tion of the school buildings, street car lines, parks, meeting places, public buildings and points of interest. Card souvenirs will be distributed each bearing a view in or near the city, together witn a brief description and instructions as to how to see it. These cardswill be' placed in souvenir en velopes and mailed all over the country. In addition the public affairs commit tee has in preparation a book on Min- neapolis, which will be distributed among visitors at all the conventions held here this summer. The book will contain descriptions of Minneapolis’, chief industries, of its parks, surround ing lakes and accessible suburbs and resorts, such as the Dalles of St. Croix and other points of easy accessibility. It will be profusely illustrated and will carry a limited line of advertising. The first issue will consist of 20,000 copies and more will be ordered as needed.
