The national vote is over. None of the dreadful cala
mities predicted by each of the presidential candidates,
should he meet with defeat, has yet occurred. If there be
any change, it is for the better. The night-riders and the
Black Hand society have ceased to make blood-curdling
threats and to cast terror and consternation among our
peaceful citizens.
