Notes:
  • Begun in 1838, the Christian Reflector was a religious paper for the Baptists of Massachusetts. Intended as a paper for the layman, the Reflector was outspoken in its advocation of temperance and morality, and of abolition. Cyrus P. Grosvenor edited the first four volumes. Although the paper was theologicalin nature, during his editorship, at least two or more articles concerning the slave and the abolitionary movement appeared each week. Cf. American periodicals, 1741-1900.
