Mayor's Notice To Bicycle Riders There is an ordinance against rid ing bicycles on the side walks in Can ton. Riding bicycles on the side walks is both dangerous and annoying and must be stopped. The violation of this law Is conti ned largely to young people who undoubtedly break the law thoughtlessly. This is the reason for this notice. I wish to notify vio lators of this law first, that they may avoid arrest. After Tuesday, May 25, the 'police department will arrest all persons who ride bicycles on the side walks. M. BENNETT, Mayor. *''Slowed up', at Middle Age The hard working kidneys seem to require aid sooner than other intern al organs. It is a mistake and when the danger has come and passed and we realize what might have been, it will be too late to prevent loss and destruction. Fire is more to be dreaded:than thieves, yet a good watchman, one not afraid to do his whole duty, might save us from robbers and tire at the same time. Let the mayor and council take this matter up at once. The very fact that men with crowbars worked so hard and with suchlttne results on the iron bars of,the jail window in open view of two well traveled streets, is evidence that those same men could have gone through any store, or two or three stores, in town and put 20 miles between them and danger be fore discovery. It is a disgrace to our Intelligence and knowledge, and know ingas we do how easy it Is to raid any store in town and go away with perfect freedom. Our defenseless con dition invitesithieves, and our people are alone to,blame if they are robbed and skinned. Some good man ought to be put on duty at 9 o'clock p. m. and he could keep a successful watch, until daylight. A Canton gun club was organized last Monday with a membership of thirteen. A. G. Isaac Einstein, a rich old Hebrew had three daughters. When the old est got married he was in high spirits and told her he would give her 11,000 for every son and daughter she might be blessed with. She and her husband moved to Twin Falls, Idaho, and one day about a year after the marriage, Mr. Einsteid rpcQived the following telegram: "Twins.. Remember your promise." Einstein was surprised, of course, but be was game aud sent the two thou sand. In the course of time the second daughter, who had the same promise, got married and moved to Three Rivers, Mich. A year passed, Einstein was expecting a telegram, but he wasn't looking for this: "Triplets. Two bbys and a girl." Einstein began to think he was ex ceeding the speed limit in acquiring grandchildren. He didn't like to en courage such recklessness, but he was no quitter and as soon as be bad suffi ciently recovered from the shock he sent the three thousand. Finally the third daughter, who was also in on the promise, got 'married. It was not fully decided where she was to live, but by this time sugges-y tive names had made Einstein a bit superstitious, and before she departed on her wedding trip, he took her aside and said: "Louisa, I hope you vlll flnt a nice place to lif, but for Got's sake stay away from dem T'ousand Isles." Reading Circle Notes Thursday, May 20, 1915, the "Read ing Circle" was entertained by Mrs. Judith Gulbraudsen. The LEADKB understands that un der the new law it is Impossible to punish a person from breaking Iquar antine. It is known that people with small-pot in their home were seen on the streets of Canton ancf also were under quarantine. The law that al lows people to run loose with coota geous desease germs about them ex posing the general public Is a joke and its formers should be placed in a "pest" house for awhile.
