TWIX 1IHOOKS' RI OBM^GS. TWIN BROOKS. MAY 1882. Farmers are commencing and pre pared to do a large quantity of break ing this season. Twin Brooks is in want of a store. If a store was started here we think it would get a large trade. A base ball club will be organized this week. Let Big Stone and other towns turn out their professionals. Quite a numbur of emigrants have been arriving the last few days. Most of them are settling in the Hills near Antelope Valley, Sheriff Meadows made our town an official visit last week. R» v. A P. Lyons, A. Ward-all, J. II. Thayer and many others have been ornamenting their homes by setting out large orchards and many forest trees. All kinds of small grain are up and our fanners predict a bountiful har vest. Mr. McFarland. onr town clerk, says he has received assessor's blank from Uig Stone, but has not received any from Mil bank yet. Which shall he use, he asks of us? [He will have to use those from Big Stone City, as no other oiflce is able to is sue correct assessors blanks.—[Ed.] Mr. Record who has been foreman of Ira Williams & Co's round elevat ors, left last week for Minneapolis to commence his summer's work for the tirm. Some of our people are getting ap prehensive of the Indians, as nearly every day some one coming down the line will report that the Indians are killing the whites. Of course it is nothing but a scare. One of our neighbors has been sell ing mortgaged horses and Alec. Mea dows is expected soon. We hear that Pat Rabbitt is to build a house on his claim aud move out here this summer. We hope so, as we need good men as well as Big Stone. Plenty of young stock to be herded here, but no herders have made their appearance. Parties in teat business could come up to Twin Brooks and get stock. Ilay is verv scarce. One of the young ladies of our town, aged 14 years, has of late been bothered by the attentions of a man not in any way desirable to her. Fin ally the parents politely told him to skip. The initials of his name were W. O. Crandall. He took the hint and skipped. Don't think, Mr. Editor, because we send you items that we are not Milbank men for we are. Only three votes were cast for Big Stone last fall. But the farmers are sick of this county-seat light and the way it has been conducted. The way things have been run this last winter has given universal dissatisfaction in our ,town. Our people say give us a new jdeal in regard to county otlicers this fall and let the county seat go where it belongs. We are in the dark and have nothing to say either way. Anonymous. The truth has now leaked out that the court house which Milbank is building for the county is only intend ed for a town house or hall but the ring are taking this means to carry out a public deception to the end that they may gain outside- sympathy and support. The idea that a railroad company must locate or dictate to the people of Grant county where their court house shall be is too much after the fashion in which they have already disgraced the county by bolstering up a pack of robbers in that town, to be gracefully acquiesced in by the peo ple. It may do very well for the tools of that company in Milbank but for freemen, never. Only two of the generous throng spoken of by the Review offered their contributions gratuitous the balance give with the understanding that they are to re ceive county orders for theirs when the courthouse is accepted by the county.
