Ko pains should lf M'aved to root out this pesl ^hel'iue i spreads farther, (j'r.iin is not yet In ailed (Hit ami thi.s perennial pest in easily seen in full bloom. Children can lie utilized in pulling it up and lunch ground gono over in a short time. Where people owning the farms fail to do their duty in regard to weeding it out, the town boards are authorized to do so at their ex pense. Kufoiee the law against this weed. i:\KHAL apathy iu this section of the Territory in the Constitutional Ton vent ion movement, made our county convention last Saturday rath er a happy affair. A few of the towns did not send any delegates at all. several more did not hold regular ly called caucuses, but were repre sented by delegations on the endorse ment of the respective township com imttvs, while Milbank had one del egation thus endjrsed and another of its own choosing. The convention, once organized, commenced ridding itself ol all irregularly chosen dele gates. The result was that the dele gates claiming admission from Mil bank, I5ig ."Stone City and Big Stone township weie thrown out and the i egularly chosen delegates of the ru ral districts had things all their own way, besides teaching the others a wholesome lesson in the way of doing things up in the proper order. While there was much animated discussion and lively changes, all passed olT pleasantly and engendered no bad blood. The farmers of tins county are adepts in the manage ment of political conventions and generally get what they want. Per sonal reasons restrain us from extend ed remarks on the candidates male by the convention, safe jn th" case of Mr. J-o'.vthian, who ably and faithfully represented this county in the Con stitutional Convention two years ago, ami it was nothing more than reason able to expect that he should be the rirst man to be chosen by the farnvrs iigain to represent them in drafting the foundation principles of tne new State. His experience in the previ ous convention and his active work in behalf of agricultural interests since a resident of this county, make litm a fitting representative of the farming classes. AM foi the editor of this paper, his nomination was as unexpected as it was unsolicited, and if elected his one aim will be to guard the rights and interests of the whole people to the best, ul his ability.
