A regular storm period covers the 1st to the 5th, being at the culmination of a mercury disturb ance. This period embraces earth's perihelion point on the 1st. Moon's last quarter and passage over the equator on the third, and apogee, on the 4th. Jupiter and Saturn are also in quadrature with earth and sun. January -will come in most likely, in the midst of mer cury sleet and snow storms, with change to warmer on and touching the 3rd. With this rise of tem perature look for falling barome ter, probable winter lightning and thunder southward, with rain, turning to heavy sleet and snow generally on and touching the 3rd, 4th and 5th. A very marked and wide cold wave will follow from the northwest, progessively, be hind these storms, spreading east ward and southward over most part3 of the country from the 3rd to the 6th. Understand and ed this forecast. "Do not get left." A reactionary storm period is central on the 7th, 8th and 9th. Saturn's quadrature with sun and earth is on the 7th, and Neptune's opposition with earth and sun is on the 8th. This period will bring return of rising temperature, fall ing barometer and more rain and snow. The moon will be at ex treme south on the 10th, inducing northerly winds, but new moon is on the 11th, preventing great cold and keeping barometric pressures down between this and the suc ceeding storm period. There are reasons to expect seismic rumors during the first week in January, but the 7th to the 13th taking the 11th as the central day, is a marked seismic period. A regular storm period is cen tral on the 14th, covering the 12th to the 17th. Moderate threatening conditions will continue from the new moon on the 11th, thru the greater part of this period, but from about 15th to the 17th deci ded storms of rain, wind and pos sibly thunder need surprise no student of these forecasts. These storms will be rapid in their de velopment and passage from west to east, with a cold wave pushing the heels of storms closely from the northwest. The moon being on the celestial equator on the 16th and nearest the earth on the 17th, with first quarter on the 18th, the disturbance of this period will naturally be prolonged out of its normal limitations. Here is a fact that ought to be impressed upon every reader's mind—when ever storm and weather do not conform strictly to the storm per iod there are special astronomic causes behind such irregularities. Let us hunt all such irregularities down— find their causes, and so perfect the science of storms and weather. A reactionary storm period falls centrally on the 20th to 21st. On and next to these dates may be ^expected the regular rise of tem perature—fall of the barometer cloudiness, change of wind cur rents to easterly and .southerly, all ending in renewed rain and snow, and followed by rising baro meter and clearing, cold weather. No successful student of meteorol ogy can fail to know that the in ception and oncoming of all storm periods are marked by more or rise of the thermometer and fall of the barometer. it A regular storm period is cen tral on the 25 th. Full moon-fall ing on the same day. This period IjJwill change to warmer, southerly winds and falling barometer fol lowed by rain and snow from the :25th to 27th. Rising, barometer and change to much colder will closely follow behind the storms from the west and north Anoth seismic period is coincedent %ith the storm period, 22nd to 27th. central- on the 25th.
