Mrs. Hannah Hoffman in attempting to step over a board that was nailed over the botiom of the gate, fell and cut the front of her leg so severely that she is constantly under tho doctor's care this week. Tho Lynn Sabbath school held in the church have some line young lady singers, among them Silva Koberts, Carrie Drennan and Minerva Stevens. Port Huron young men are indulg ing in prize lights at what is called the Dutch farm. An experience social held in Brown City last week netted the church the Bum of $55.94. Marlette sneak thieves are stealing all articles found in buggies hitched along the streets. , Five-year-old Alex Yates, of St. Clair was drowned while playing on the bank of Pino river. Bert E. Lints, of Brown City, and Miss Kckka Paschka, of Marlette, were married Aug. 17th. It is said that the bad water people are drinking in Port Huron is causing all the malarial fever. 180 teachers passed a successful ex amination at the recent teachers' ex amination in Port Huron. II. C. Siegel's planing mill at Capac burned one day last week with a loss of about $1 ,500 to its owner. Tho G. A. The Carsonville pea mill has shut down for the season, after using about 00,000 bushels of peas during tho past year. The stock of goods owned by Victor E. Haywood, of Port Huron, were sold at auction last week to E. It. Smith, of Clinton. Policemen Cox, of Port Huron, was suspended last week for being drunk. Cox says he took the liquor because he was sick. Some members of the M. E. church at New Haven have been put out on account of joining' an organization called Gideon's Band. Georgo Kerslake, a farmer living near Croswell, has been informed that there is a fortune of 315,000,000 in tho Bank of England for him. Miss Lou Smith and Miss Brophy, of Columbus, while in Port Huron and boarding at the same place, contracted typhoid fever and are now quite sick. Richmond band will bo under the instructions of Dr. Garlick, of Armada, for the next two weeks and a concert given at tho close for tho benefit of tho Dr. Mary Downs, a St. Clair woman, has been in tho Port Huron jail suHering from delirium tremens.
