JUrrtthir fe After Hw dsH, avi Miy 9t It, The TVmhlnf ton tawn won an excel tently pUytd gasm a Capltnl Pk. Sat onlay, and yegtertlny went away on a two weeks' tilp. To day It plays In Xe w Haven, anil to morrow ami Wednesday In liar; ford. The team Is within a few games of third plnce. ami If It will keep tip the style of playing It did In the two last games should dispossess the New arks of the coveted rdaco. Trntrs imi is not p'aylng sweh excellent ball as It wss, and the leaders hare let down a little In their playing, so that a spnrt will put the local team tin near the head. There was some dissatisfaction among the players after Saturday's game, ami several of them declared they wonid not go on the trip unless tha mditrlM were pah!. This trouble was happily averted, the men received their money and went away with lighter heart ami heavier pockets. jMicnoiae received his release before the game commenced ami Immedi ately claimed that $185 was due. lturket denied this, and so It becomes a question of veracity between the two. Nicholas was very much exercised over his release and spoke very bitterly of the management for withholding hla money. Pi turr rnosrKcTS The contemplated purchase of the team by a syndicate, which looked bo promising on Saturday, 1ms fallen through, and the gentlemen Interested In It have withdrawn from any further negotiations for It. Anybody who wants It nnd can pay tho price tha assignee wants for It can have It. so f,tr ni tho other purchasers are concernod. After waiting for a week to ascertain definitely what figure would be accepted, tho syndicate rando an offer for tho fran chise. Including tho option on tho lease of Atlantic Park, and tho new grand stand, which wns accepted, with that understanding by tho assignee. A legal question arose which woi submitted to tho nsslgneo, who, when he came to nnswer It, as It Involved the grand stand, stated that that was not a part of the assignment and would have to bo bought separately. Thereupon tha deal was held In nbeynncc until tho Interested parties could he seen, and when told tho terms thoy promptly withdrew their offer. I he price asked, ? I .BOO, Is, according t" Hit assignee, solely for the franchise of Hit club, the light to sign tho pluyors nml a number of luclduutala, tuch us s'gns, ilckots, etc. It Is hardly worth wlillo to ox press an opinion ni to whetl.cr inch a price Is exorbitant or not. Granting that tho right to the territory Is worth something, It must bj renumbered that it is In a league Unit Is not at all certain to last. Feveral of the clubs are shaky and liable to drop out, and If they should the franchise become woithloM, be caute no guarantee can be given to In sure the permanancy of the franchise. In fact, Its only value Is a prospective (nc, provided tho Association goes Ihtough the season. Under those clr cumttancea. the would be purchatera did not believe Its value corresponded with that set upon It by the assignee. Another complication also aroe by the notice served by the attorneys for wjine of the stockholders, that the as signment was void, and forbidding the kMlgncu to dispone of the club. The notice, perhaps, was not legal, for the assignee declared it would not deter him from disposing of the club If he could find a purchaser, but there Is no assurance but what a suit might follow. The future of the club Is uncertain. HarrUburg Is said to be anxious to pur chase the franchise, ami unless there are parties here willing to pay as much as is asked the Pennsylvania people may succeed. The assignee wants to dispose of the club at private sale If possible, but unless that U dne shortly it will be sold at auction. In that event It would go to the high est bidder, and It U doubtful If that bid would be anywhere near the price demanded at present, unless the present holders of the team should buy It In and continue to run It ami endeavor to sell it or form a stock company to as sist tbem. Affairs are so badly mixed at present, however, that nothing can Ue definitely prophesied as to the outeowe of the waiter aad the future of the club. Low Itatea to Ueer t'urk unit Oakland.
