Quay's resolution providing for a voto on the Tariff bill on the 0th Instant and Ignoring consideration of the Fed eral Elections bill this session, wore all referred to tlio Committee on Utiles. Sir. Hoar offered nn amendment to Mr. Quay's resolution so as to Include tlio Elections bill amongmaltcrs to bo taken up this session. This also was referred to the Committee on Utiles. The House joint resolution extending the provision of existing law, providing for the temporary expenditures of the Government to the 20 1 h of August, was taken tip and passed. The Tariff bill was then taken up the pending question being on Mr, Vest's amendment, offered Monday reducing the duty on tin plate from 2 3 10 cents to 1 cent per pound the ex isting rate and Mr. Gray took tlio floor and continued his argument In support of Mr. Vest's nmendment. He pleaded for tlio canning factories, and asked that the increased taxation should not bo taken from the poor for the benefit of a bloated syndicate formed to establish a manufacture not now ex isting, and where tho work was to bo done by Imported Englishmen and "Welshmen. Both the grand jury and petit juries are harJ at work, and many of the leaders In the factions have tied to escape punishment. The grand jury returned an Indictment yesterday against the two Fugettes for murder. The goneral opinion is that they will hang. Tlio presence of the troops and the continued energy of Judge Lilly to bring the offenders be fore the court has made the people en thusiastic.
