Coleman who is in charge of the construction of a new cannery for the Copper River Pack ing Company in McClures bay near Port Wells returned to Cordova yes terday on Cuptain Frank Cole s steamer for Medford, Oregon, where eminent to try out the principle of he will spend the winter. During the past three months con siderable work has been done in driv ing piling, erecting wharf, bunk houses, etc., preparatory to the con struction of one of the largest 3almon industries in this section next spring. The site is said to be an ideal one, with the best water power to be found in Alaska. There are to be three large build ings erected. The cannery will be 40 by 200 feet and a warehouse the same size, as well as another building 00 feet square. It will be a three line cannery, but so constructed that the output can be increased at any time. E. B. Henly, who operated a plant at Mile 55 for the past two seasons, is at the head of the new concern.— Prospector. Still Open. He was up and about the city as usual until stricken with paralysis only twenty-four hours prior to the time he breathed his last. The stroke came on while he was sitting in tne parlor of the Pioneer Hotel, of which he was one of the proprietors. Jack, as he was most familiarly known to his many friends, was un ! conscious from the time of the stroke day before yesterday until he passed away. John Thomas Mahoney was born 45 years ago in Orillia, Ontario, and came west when a young man.
