MARION L. SMITH... Editor Volume I. SATURDAY, MARCH 17, 1951 * Number 3. EDITORIAL COMMENT WHO STOLE WHAT? WHEN? HOW COME? YOU DON'T SAY/ Th'e Mayor of the village of Robbins has been, and is now being, attacked by the village clerk and her shadow. It has been said that the Mayor has been arrested and put in jail downtown. That statement is a lie. The mayor HAS NOT BEEN ARRESTED AT ALL. But Mrs. Elinor White, the village clerk, had the States At- j torney to write him and ask him to come in, because ! he (the mayor) had locked Mrs. White out of her office so she said and which was proven in the States Attorney's office to be wrong. Mrs. White has the same office that Mr. Charles Banks (the former village clerk), had used for 16 or more years. What the mayor did was to lock out the old water collector and others because of the irregularities in hand ling monies and records. This has caused a barrage of attacks on the mayor. There have been numerous complaints made by people holding receipts showing they had paid their water bills last year and was not given credit on the books for the same. Records have been taken ou tof the village hall. These are the kind of things that caused the changes to be made. There is a further rumor that the mayor is stealing money. If there is any stealing of money going on in the village hall it seems that the finger of suspicion should be pointed in another direction. The village clerk is the one who receives all monies. It is not known who is stealing what. But it is known that people are driving trucks around the streets of the village on a $5.00 vehicle sticker when they should have more money for their stickers. The stickers are bought from the village clerk's office. These are facts. DON'T BE MISLED by these false disciples because they are liars and hypocrites hoping to gain favor for themselves! Judge people by the company they keep. In the final analysis, it is up to YOU as citizens tnd voters, wth an eye single to the future of the village and your own best interest, to decide Tuesday, April 17, 1951, who stole what, when and how come?
